I would like to remove the drain plug in my bathtub. It is not leaking or clogged. It utilised to be white (to match the color of the tub), but some of the paint has chipped off of it to reveal a shiny gold metal underneath (which doesn't match something in our bathroom). The plug merely raises and lowers manually by pushing or lifting on it. Nonetheless, I cannot figure out how to take away it. It just spins endlessly in either path. What is the secret to removing a drain plug such as this?

There is a modest screw along the side of the plug. just loosen it up .
