I know they are illegal to sell in thailand but what about as a gift?
The toy is not a rabbit or something so wouldn't be overly apparent on some kinda x-ray scan! (it really is kinda the shape of a wireless mouse
I assume if I ship through DHL or UPS etc they won't unbox everything would just scan it? and put that it really is a wirelss mouse gift on the airway bill and so on would it pass customs?

I would not advise it. I have no thought what the law is, but if it is illegal to sell - then most likely it is illegal to give - - Would you want to receive something in the mail that is illegal in your country? This sounds like you are placing a person else in jeopardy...

Wise selection says no way.
