Itouch repair or refurbished?

Question by m4maria5283: Itouch repair or refurbished?
My younger sister has had 1st generation itouch for about two yrs. She had a docking station (not certain what brand) which she lost the adaptor and would wiggle when she would place it on the dock. Right after a although the metal component of the docking station broke off (simply because it the itouch wiggled so a lot). Now when she plugs the itouch onto the laptop or computer or the outlet she has to wiggle the connector so it can show that it is charging. Some time it will show that it is charging and following leaving connected for about 5 minutes she checks it once more it shows that it's either only plugged in but not charging or it doesn't show it plugged in. She also dropped it, it hit her toe and then fell on the floor and the screen cracked. For this christmas she didn't ask for a new ipod she just desires the old 1 fixed. Initial, is it worth the repair, and if it is where in the city of Chicago can i find somebody to fix it besides an Apple Store? If its not worth repairing I was thinking of just purchasing a refurbished itouch, from the Apple Store but my brother-in-law told me not to due to the fact they will break down following the 1 yr. warranty. I really want to get her a good gift this Christmas, she has worked her butt off in H.S.

Your brother in law is an idiot. A refurbished model is no far more likely to break than a new 1. If you're concerned you can get the Apple Care two year program on it. Sounds like a refurb may be cheaper than fixing the old 1.
